Metronet Bayswater Station Unveils Captivating Artwork
Metronet Bayswater Station has recently unveiled its newest project, a stunning public art masterpiece created by the talented local artist, Emily Jackson. This artwork beautifully captures the essence of the Bayswater Station, showcasing the local flora, fauna, and the rich history of the area.
Emily Jackson worked closely with the Bayswater Historical Society, who provided her with a wealth of sources, archives, and images. This collaboration ensured that the artwork truly reflects the heritage and significance of the Bayswater Station. Additionally, Emily also involved the students from Bayswater Primary School in the project, incorporating their printmaking into the final design. This not only adds a touch of community involvement but also showcases the creativity and talent of the young minds in the area.
The Factory's Public Art Involvement:
The artwork itself is a sight to behold. It consists of 31 individual panels, each printed using full-colour UV ink on aluminium panels. This choice of material ensures the longevity and durability of the artwork, as well as its resistance to graffiti. To further protect the artwork, an anti-graffiti laminate has been applied to the panels. This attention to detail ensures that the artwork will remain vibrant and intact for years to come.
The installation process involved applying the printed panels directly to the wall surface, with the support of an aluminium trim channel. This method not only enhances the overall aesthetic of the artwork but also ensures its stability and longevity. The panels seamlessly blend into the station’s architecture, becoming an integral part of the environment.
Captivating Visual Narrative:
In addition to the printed panels, painted wall murals were added to the project. These murals add depth and dimension to the artwork, creating an immersive experience for commuters and visitors alike. The combination of printed panels and painted wall murals creates a unique and captivating visual narrative that tells the story of Bayswater station and its surroundings.
The new public art, not only celebrates the local heritage but also showcases the talent and creativity of the community. The new Metronet Bayswater station is a testament to the power of collaboration and the transformative impact of art in public spaces.
Public Art To Inspire:
As commuters pass through the station, they are greeted by a vibrant and engaging artwork that reflects the identity and history of the area. The artwork serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage of Bayswater and the importance of preserving and celebrating it. It also adds a touch of beauty and inspiration to the daily commute, making the station a more welcoming and enjoyable space for all.
