The project involved the design, construction, and installation of a custom-built, double-sided pylon sign, standing proudly at approximately four metres tall. More than just a sign, this structure serves as a bold, professional, and welcoming statement that reflects the school’s identity and sets the tone for all who visit the campus.

The Vision Behind the Project

Here’s a breakdown of the scope of work we managed throughout the project lifecycle:
Site Survey and Precision Engineering: Before any materials were ordered or soil disturbed, our team conducted an in-depth site survey. This crucial step allowed us to determine the optimal position, orientation, and structural requirements for the sign.
The engineering process involved: Assessment of ground conditions, load-bearing calculations and consideration of wind ratings and other environmental factors. Every element was meticulously planned to ensure the final product would be both structurally sound and visually impactful.
Structural Footing and Foundation Work: A sign of this scale demands a solid foundation. We commenced onsite works with the excavation of a designated area for the concrete footing. Our team then poured and cured the concrete base to engineer-grade specifications, ensuring long-term stability and resistance to the elements. This foundational work was critical to ensuring that the pylon sign could support its height, withstand environmental conditions, and remain upright and vibrant for years to come.
Fabrication and Finishing: Once the groundwork was complete, our in-house fabrication team brought the design to life. Using high-grade materials, the double-sided pylon sign was built to exact measurements, with durability and aesthetic appeal in mind.
From powder-coated finishes to UV-resistant graphics, every component was selected for longevity and to maintain visual impact over time, even with constant exposure to Perth’s weather conditions.
Custom branding elements — including the school’s logo, colours, and typography — were incorporated into the design to ensure consistency with Duncraig Senior High School’s existing visual identity.
Safe and Efficient Installation Using HiAb Equipment: Transporting and positioning a structure of this size is no small task. For this installation, we utilised HiAb equipment with an onboard crane, allowing us to safely lift and fix the pylon sign into place with minimal disruption to surrounding areas.
Our installation team coordinated closely with the school to schedule works outside of peak hours, ensuring seamless integration without affecting daily operations or student safety.
Compliance, Permits, and Licensing: As with all of our signage projects, compliance was a top priority. We managed the entire permitting process, including: Local council approvals, signage licensing and structural certifications.
By taking care of all regulatory requirements, we removed the administrative burden from our client and ensured that every aspect of the sign met or exceeded compliance standards.
