At Corpus Christi College in Bateman, the goal was to create a stronger arrival experience. The school wanted illuminated signage that reflected its identity, improved visibility after dark, and delivered consistent branding across key entry points. The result is a refreshed entrance that looks confident during the day and stands out at night.
A Clear Brief with a Clear Outcome
Corpus Christi College wanted more than just new signs. They wanted an entrance statement that felt contemporary, was easy to read in low light, stayed true to the school’s brand, and would perform well long term. Durability and low maintenance were just as important as visual impact.
Removing Existing Signage and Preparing the Site
A successful signage upgrade starts with careful preparation. We began by removing the existing signage and banners to ensure the new branding wasn’t layered over old infrastructure. This step is critical for clean alignment, a polished finish, and long-term performance.
With the old signage removed, we prepared the wall surfaces and checked layout and positioning. Every sign was measured and aligned to ensure it sat straight, secure, and visually balanced when viewed from the approach to the campus.
Deep 3D Fabricated Aluminium Letters and Logo
To achieve a premium, architectural look, we produced deep 3D fabricated aluminium lettering and logo elements. This style of signage adds depth and dimension, creating natural shadow and visual interest throughout the day.
Fabricated aluminium is an ideal material for external school signage. It performs well in outdoor conditions, resists corrosion, and maintains its finish over time, giving the branding a strong, permanent presence.
Halo Illuminated School Signage
The centrepiece of this project was halo illumination, also known as reverse-lit lettering. This technique creates a soft glow behind each letter and logo element, delivering excellent visibility without harsh lighting.
Halo illumination works particularly well for school environments. It keeps signage visible during early morning drop-offs, after-school pick-ups, evening sports, events, and darker winter mornings, while still feeling refined and welcoming.
Multiple Illuminated Signs for a Cohesive Entrance
To create a cohesive arrival experience, we produced and installed three illuminated signs across the entrance area. Using multiple illuminated elements allows the branding to work from different angles and distances, creating a more intentional and considered sense of arrival.
Each sign was fabricated to match the school’s branding precisely, with consistent letter depth, finishes, and lighting effects to ensure a unified and professional result.
Fence Banner and Frame Refresh
Entrance branding extends beyond wall signage. Fence lines are highly visible communication spaces for schools, often used for enrolments, events, open days, and community messaging.
At Corpus Christi College, the existing fence banners and frames were due for an upgrade. We removed the old system and installed new banners with updated frames to suit the refreshed entrance presentation. This immediately improved the school’s streetscape presence and ensured all messaging looked clean, aligned, and well maintained.
