A Signage Solution to Match a
Grand Renovation

Bringing a Vision to Light: The Potter House Beechboro’s New Illuminated Signage by The Factory

In the heart of Beechboro, Western Australia, a remarkable transformation has been taking place. After 31 years of serving the local community, The Potter House has embarked on its first major extension and most significant renovation since 1993. This milestone marks not only a physical evolution but also a fresh chapter in the church’s journey—a renewal of purpose, space, and identity.

At The Factory, we were honoured to be a part of this momentous transformation. Our team was tasked with bringing the new facade of The Potter House to life with a stunning, illuminated signage installation that reflects the church’s modern revival while respecting its rich legacy. The result? A sleek, modern identity piece that literally shines with purpose and prominence.

In this project blog, we’ll take you behind the scenes of this exciting signage project—from the design considerations and fabrication techniques to the installation process that helped create a visual centrepiece for The Potter House’s new look.

The Vision: A Signage Solution to Match a Grand Renovation

When The Potter House began planning their major extension and renovation, the vision was clear: to revamp the entire aesthetic of the building while maintaining an inviting and community-focused atmosphere. The architectural updates included modern design materials, enhanced lighting fixtures, and a more contemporary facade. It was essential that the signage matched the calibre and style of the new construction.
That’s where The Factory came in. Our mission was to conceptualise, fabricate, and install a signage solution that would:
  • Enhance the architectural beauty of the new facade
  • Reflect the values and visual identity of The Potter House
  • Provide high visibility both day and night
  • Incorporate high-quality, durable materials suitable for long-term use

The Signage Design & Fabrication Process

The final signage design was a sleek, modern, and sophisticated statement piece that seamlessly integrated with the new facade. Here’s a breakdown of the standout features and materials used:

1. Deep 3D Fabricated Aluminium Letters and Logo

To create a sense of depth and visual interest, we used deep fabricated 3D aluminium for the church’s name and logo. This fabrication technique provides a robust structure and a high-end look, perfect for a prominent organisation like The Potter House. The depth of the letters adds dimensionality and ensures readability from a distance, making the signage both functional and aesthetically engaging.

2. Satin Monument Grey Finish

The face of the lettering was painted in a sleek satin monument grey — a sophisticated and versatile colour that perfectly complemented the newly designed facade. Monument grey is a rich, neutral tone that exudes modern elegance and works beautifully in a variety of lighting conditions. It’s a popular choice for architectural projects for good reason: it adds gravitas and blends harmoniously with both contemporary and classic design elements.

3. Rear Halo Illumination

One of the most striking features of this signage is the rear halo illumination. Each letter was internally fitted with cool white LEDs, providing crisp, clean lighting that adds a radiant glow to the signage at night. We used high-quality opal acrylic backing to diffuse the light evenly, creating a soft halo effect on the wall behind the letters. This not only enhances visibility after dark but also adds a dynamic, floating visual effect that makes the signage truly come alive in the evening.

4. Floating Installation with Rod Pins

To further elevate the signage (both literally and figuratively), the letters were installed using discreet rod pins, allowing them to sit off the wall and create a sophisticated “floating” appearance. This technique enhances the depth and allows the halo lighting to shine through.
