City of Vincent Commercial Christmas Decorations
Creating a Magical Christmas
Since 2016, we have had the pleasure and privilege of working closely with the City of Vincent to deliver a truly enchanting and immersive Christmas experience. Through strategic planning, high-quality commercial decorations, and community-focused design, we’ve transformed the streets, parks, and public spaces of the City of Vincent into a festive wonderland year after year.
From large-scale installations such as walk-through presents, towering baubles, and illuminated stars, to charming street decorations featuring fairy lights and festive pole décor — our collaboration with the City of Vincent continues to grow in both scale and community impact. Each season brings new opportunities to surprise and delight residents and visitors, and 2024 was no exception.
In fact, the 2024 edition of the City of Vincent’s Christmas Walking Trail was featured on The Urban List as one of “Perth’s Best Christmas Trails 2024” — a testament to the creativity, craftsmanship, and community spirit behind this ambitious project.
Christmas Decorations Overview
The City of Vincent is known for its vibrant community, eclectic mix of arts and culture, and walkable neighbourhoods. As a result, our approach to holiday decorating had to balance aesthetic appeal with functionality, accessibility, and community engagement.
The project scope included:
- A Christmas Walking Trail through key precincts including Leederville, Mount Hawthorn, and North Perth.
- Large interactive installations such as walk-through baubles, gift boxes, and stars.
- Street scape lighting including fairy lights on trees, pole-mounted decorations, and building adornments.
- Community engagement pieces, such as our ever-popular selfie characters, designed for interaction, social sharing, and festive fun.
- Ongoing maintenance and safety checks throughout the installation period.
Our mission was clear: to help the City of Vincent not only decorate for Christmas but to foster a magical, festive atmosphere that encouraged community connection, foot traffic, and celebration.
The Challenge: Creating Magic in a Real-World Landscape
Designing and installing commercial Christmas decorations in an urban environment comes with its share of logistical and technical challenges. For the City of Vincent, some key considerations included:
1. Traffic Management
Many of the installations were located in high-traffic areas, both vehicular and pedestrian. Leederville and Mount Hawthorn in particular are bustling precincts, and any disruption to traffic flow could affect local businesses and commuters.
2. Foot Traffic Engagement
Beyond mere decoration, the city wanted to create interactive, engaging spaces that encouraged people to linger, explore, shop, and celebrate. This meant installations needed to be not only visually impactful but also safe, accessible, and ideally interactive.
3. Safety and Accessibility
Ensuring the safety of the public was paramount. Our decorations and installations had to withstand weather conditions, prevent trip hazards, and comply with strict safety codes and regulations.
4. Installation Timing
With busy roads and business hours to consider, installation timelines had to be tightly managed with minimal disruption to local businesses and residents. Evening and early morning work was often required.
Our Solution: A Professional, Flexible, and Experienced Team
At the heart of our success lies a dedicated team of professional installers, electricians, designers, and project managers — all working in harmony to bring the vision to life.
1. Expert Team of Installers and Electricians
We deployed a large team of experienced commercial Christmas installers and licensed electricians. This team was fully prepared to handle any unexpected challenges, from last-minute weather changes to site access limitations.
Our electricians handled the technical aspects of power supply and safety testing, ensuring every light and installation met regulatory standards. Meanwhile, our installers worked closely with City of Vincent representatives to ensure the decorations were placed in optimal locations and securely anchored.
2. Strategic Planning and Coordination
Months in advance, we worked hand-in-hand with the City of Vincent to map out an installation plan that addressed all potential obstacles. This included detailed scheduling, site surveys, stakeholder consultations (including local business owners), and traffic management plans.
We coordinated with local traffic authorities to ensure road safety during installations, often working during off-peak hours to minimise disruption. Temporary road closures, detours, and pedestrian management measures were all implemented with precision.
3. Interactive and Social-Friendly Installations
Understanding the importance of engagement, we designed installations that encouraged interaction and social sharing. Our selfie characters — life-sized festive figures placed throughout the city — were a major hit with families and social media users alike.
Meanwhile, the walk-through installations, such as the giant present and oversized bauble, were not only visually stunning but designed for people to walk through and photograph — adding an immersive element to the walking trail.
4. Weather and Durability
Perth’s summer weather can be extreme, with high temperatures, strong UV exposure, and occasional storms. All materials and installations must be built to withstand these conditions while remaining visually appealing throughout the holiday seasons.
